About CPI

Charlie 'Cookie' Cook and Susan Goldbetter tapping on stage

Circuit Productions Inc. (CPI), was founded by Susan Goldbetter (on right performing with Charlie "Cookie" Cook) in 1986 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, production and preservation of the uniquely American art forms of jazz and tap dance. Our mission is to inspire, entertain and educate underserved audiences in New York through performances, public classes, workshops, and arts education programs featuring senior artists of color who are living legends of the city's rich tap and jazz history. Annually, Circuit provides booking and management services for senior and emerging artists; placing performers in museums, libraries, community-based organizations, local colleges, public schools, and hospitals.

The organization presents senior artists of color, most between 60 and 80 years old, in a broad range of cultural activities that include inter-generation performances, master classes, and community outreach programs. In addition, CPI provides these artists with managerial and professional services including bookings, fund raising, and personal management.

Executive Director's Corner

Dear Friends,

Hope you are someplace cool and relaxing. However, if you’re looking for great music and dance, locally, please join us for Circuit Production’s two FREE summer concert series: "Rhythm Journeys" and "Tap and Jazz Masters". Both continue to take place throughout the five boroughs and beyond. Don't miss the legendary Sounds of Deliverance- the best in Gospel- returning to the Harlem Meer Performance Festival on August 21st. The site is the idyllic Dana Conservancy Center, located inside Central Park.

In addition all summer long Circuit partners with the Brooklyn Children's Museum (BCM) to bring tap, jazz, gospel and world music and dance at the museum's Free Family Friday Rooftop Music Jam. Recent performances included Irene Koloseus’s Feraba: African Rhythm Tap and the Brooklyn Arabic Music Trio. Continuing on August 19th Sounds of Deliverance features the 96-year founder and saxophonist extraordinaire, Fred Staton and his group. Finally, on August 26th Charles Moore Dance Theatre -Brooklyn’s longest running dance troupe-celebrates the colorful African, Caribbean and Afro-American dance and music heritage.

If you love the blues and early rock ‘n roll then don’t miss Señor Lucky Blues Duet featuring Paul Handelman and Karan Serafin at New York Public Library’s Andrew Heighskell Braille & Talking Book Library, 40 West 20th Street between 5th and 6th avenues. Info. & Directions: 212-206-5452.

We want to send special thanks to all our funders for their continued support of these public performances. We are delighted to thank the Puffin Foundation Ltd. – for their recent grant towards Circuit’s ACES-Arts Curriculum Enrichment Services project. The latter brings together intergenerational audiences in cultural and educational settings.

Swing to the beat until we meet!
