Nydia Ocasio: a unique Latin dance artist with years of experience in the dramatization of the Latin heritage, its culture and arts. Her teachings have featured historical and cultural folklore introductions from Puerto Rico, Cuba and Brazil. She is a dynamic and vivacious dancer who also has the rare talent of teaching others not only the true essence and “sabor” of the dance, but its music as well. The following are but a few of her many accomplishments in concert performances, Special Events, travels and teachings throughout her artistic career: Madison Square Garden - The Beacon Theater - Symphony Space - Avery Fisher Hall - Aaron Davis Hall - The Meadow Lands - The Public Theater - Lincoln Center - The Apollo Theater - The Univision's Gala Event Celebration at Tavern on the Green - Tito Puente's 50th Anniversary held at Heckscher Performances Arts.

Her performances abroad include Mexico, Japan, Rome, Italy and in January and November of 2003 traveled to Cuba on a cultural dance and music study program. In 2005 was featured in the Emmy Award Winner BET-Jazz documentary, “Pasos Latinos…A Mambo-Mentary” produced by BETJ Creative Services Producer, Miriam Machado-Cooper. In 2006 she was a featured dancer in the upcoming Hector Lavoe Film, “El Cantante”. Nydia is also featured in the new release publication titled “Lo Que Quiero Es Salsa” written by Carlos Velasquez.
