Sarah McLawler & Les Femmes Jazz

This fall and Winter jazz greats Sarah McLawler and Fred Staton performed for audiences in hospitals, nursing homes and rehab centers throughout the city. On November 24th and 28th they appeared in two special Brooklyn program at Garden of Eden and Mermaid Manor for drug treatment clients. In February and March the two performed for Black History and Women’s History programs.

Sarah and Fred performed at a Brooklyn outpatient facility. Upon their arrival the two found the audience to be very subdued. By the time they’d completed their 60-minute set the participants felt they had visited a famous Harlem Nightclub. The duo treated everyone to some great jazz and blues standards including Satin Doll, Unforgettable, St. Louis Blues, Undecided, Tenderly and Caravan. The finale was a medley that inspired the audience to join Sarah and Fred in God Bless the Child, God Bless America, He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands and the Saints Go Marching In.

Sarah and Fred will continue performing in Circuit Productions’ the Blues and Jazz Heritage Project.
